Infuse Your Home's Design With Creativity!

I've often found myself watching home shows on television and liking the interior design, only to later come to the realization that I don't have a budget in the hundreds of thousands. However, there are all kinds of cool decorating and interior design techniques that don't take much money. Rather, they take creativity. My wife and I have all kinds of fun decorations that didn't cost much, but that get a lot of attention from guests and that also compliment the space where they are. This blog is here to help you discover how to put your creativity to work in your home.

Make Your Own Western-Themed Decor

If you are looking to decorate your home in a western style and you like the idea of adding some items you made yourself, then this article will be very helpful. You can learn about a few great western-themed additions you can make for your house that will be easy and fun.

How to make a western-style hat rack

You can make a hat rack that hangs near your entry way that has a western look to it and that's very simple to put together. To make this hat rack you will need a quarter piece from a nice-sized log. A split piece of firewood will work great. You will also need three hat rack hooks and a drill with a small bit. Drill three holes in the one side of the wood that still has bark on it. One hole should go on the left, one hole in the center and one hole on the right.

Turn the wood around and drill two small holes into the top portion of wood. One hole will be on the left side and one on the right side. They need to be directly across from one another. Once you have drilled the holes into the wood, you can hand screw the hat hooks into the holes. Once the hooks are in place then you can nail two nails into your wall, make sure they match up with the two holes in your piece of wood and slide the wood onto them. Now, you have a hat rack you can use to hang your hats on.

How to make a western-style mailbox post

You can make a mailbox post that goes with the western theme you are going for with your house. To make this post you will fill a bucket with quick-setting concrete and put a wooden post in the concrete. Once it has dried completely, you will pull the cement out of the bucket. Nail three horseshoes onto the front of the piece of wood. Attach the mailbox to the post with screws and set the cement portion in a hole where your mailbox is meant to be. Fill the rest of the hole with dirt and enjoy your new mailbox post.
